Is It Normal For Trailer Hitch Mounting Hardware To Be Significantly Smaller Than Holes In The Frame
Updated 05/14/2024 | Published 05/13/2024 >
Question:
Hello. I purchased this hitch from etrailer for my 2015 F-350 crew cab short bed truck. One thing Im noticing is that the diameter of the bolts are considerably smaller than the holes in the frame. I know the square hole spacers will reinforce the install but Im a little concerned. Please advise when possible. Thanks

Hey Steve,
What you're describing is pretty much the standard for most trailer hitches that don't reuse the factory hardware or don't have factory weld nuts in the frame to thread into. The block spacers included with the # C15810 are there to spread the load from and prevent the bolt from coming through the opening in the frame. As long you properly install and torque down the bolts there shouldn't be any issues.
