Hello Mark. Based on what I could find online, the Dexter 072-042-00 is a standard 1-3/4 inch wide double eye spring which is 25-1/4 inches long and rated for 1,750 lbs.
To replace these, I recommend you use the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e57SR. This is a 2,000 lb rated 1-3/4" wide double eye spring that measures 25-1/4" long overall. So this will be a direct bolt-on replacement for your Dexter springs and it has the 2,000 lb rating you are looking for.

Hi I am interested in doing the same thing My question is going from the four leaf spring to the three leaf spring would any height/ wheel clearance be lost? I currently have 072 042 00 1750 capacity springs that are ready for replacement. Would a 4 leaf 2200lb capacity be to stiff? I am debating between the 2,000 lb capacity 3 leaf and the 2200 lb capacity 4 leaf Looking for the best recommendation
