Brake Controller For A 2020 Subaru Ascent

Question:

Hi, I have a 2020 Subaru Ascent Premium with factory trailer tow package and am looking an electric brake controller. All brake controllers shown on your website for 2020 Subaru Ascent say “without factory Tow Package”. What do you recommend for my vehicle with factory tow package?

Hello Robert. The reason our site is showing only the “without factory Tow Package” options is because this is all that is available currently. There was a plug-and-play brake controller adapter from Tekonsha, part 306200, that is compatible with the factory tow package on your Ascent, but it is no longer available.

You can definitely still put a brake controller on your vehicle with the tow package. It will just require removing the OEM brake control plug and hardwiring the controller. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is what I recommend for this since it comes with a universal hardwire pigtail and it is our most durable and dependable controller.
