What Anti-Rattle Device Will Work With The Brophy Hitch Extender HE06

Updated 02/20/2024 | Published 02/15/2024

Question:

Is the hole in the 2inch square tube which fits into the hitch receiver a tapped hole so an anti rattle hitch pin could be used? If yes what is the part number of the anti rattle hitch pin? I should have looked before I mounted the bike rack!

Hello again Mark. The Brophy Hitch Extender # HE06 does not have a threaded hitch pin hole. There is still an anti-rattle hitch pin you can use with it, which is the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232. This lock comes with a block that is placed inside of the hollow shank of the hitch extender. This block is tapped and will accept the 5/8" threaded pin, so basically giving you the same anti-rattle capabilities as if the hitch extended did have a tapped hitch pin hole.

Using a hitch extension almost always adds some rattle, so using the anti-rattle hitch lock should make a big difference.
