Question:

We are getting a 2024 Mazda cx30. We’ve a four bikes Kuat rack that we have been using with our 2013 Lexus rx350. Would the new Mazda - a much smaller car / be able to tow with the four bike Kuat? What hitch would I need for the cx 30? Thank You.

It looks like the Kuat 4 Bike Racks : # KU77FR, # NV22B-NA22B, # KU58ZR, & # KU45VR you're referring to, all require a 2" hitch and unfortunately only a class I 1 1/4" hitch is offered for your Mazda.

If you're needing a hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C49CR will work great, but you're not going to be able to use your 4 bike rack. The only way any of those bike racks would physically fit is if you used a hitch expander # HTAD, but using an adapter would effectively cut your tongue weight by 50 percent, which in-turn wouldn't leave you with enough capacity to actually use the rack.

If you didn't need to carry all 4 bikes, I'd recommend just downsizing a bit and use a 3-bike trunk rack # Y02633. This rack is going to install onto the trunk on your Mazda requiring no hitch, and will let you carry up to (3) 35 lb bikes.
