Question:
Hello I have a question I saw a video somewhere that I believe said that a ball mount with 10" drop should be de-rated to 2/3 of the weight capacity. IS this true and does this mean the BM10 ball mount is not actually rated for 7,500 lbs? Thank you

That is an interesting question. I can honestly say that we have not heard of this rule before. It does make sense though, that a ball mount with a 10" or larger drop could not hold as much weight as one with less drop. We ran this question by the folks at Brophy to get the official word. We were told that all of their ball mounts including the # BM10 are rated based on the drop. So the de-rating is already factored in to the listed weight capacity, and you do not need to calculate anything beyond that.
