Installing the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs, like part # AL57298, on your 1996 Ford F-250 doesn't require the removal of your overload springs unless the air bag kit produces a harsher ride quality. Since this step is labeled as an "if-then" step it wouldn't be a bad thing to just remove the spring entirely right from the start - just note in the instructions how it mentions naturally running the air bags at higher psi ratings as a result of this.
