Question:

We have a 2020 Newmar Bay Star 3226 - we just purchased a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer to set up as our tow vehicle. We are wanting to find a company that can install the set up for us and get a quote so we have an idea of what it will cost. Is this something you can help with?

If you want to set up an appointment to drop off your Trailblazer and motorhome to have all of your flat towing components installed then you'll want to reach out to our customer service department at 1-800-940-8924 to get an install appointment. If you haven't picked out your flat towing components yet then I have the following recommendations:

Baseplate: If you have an L, LS, LT, or ACTIV model then you'll need the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM35FR. For RS models you'll need part # RM46VR instead.

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates # e74ZR. This tow bar includes safety cables and has an adjustable head/shank to help keep it level between the motorhome and Trailblazer.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: For L, LS, LT models you'll have variable voltage tail lights and would need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RM26FR.

If you have an RS model you'll be able to use a standard diode kit like the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267.

Braking System: Since your 2020 Newmar Bay Star 3226 has hydraulic disc brakes I recommend the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This fixed system will have a one time installation and will then be ready to go any time you're ready to tow so that you have one less thing to check off the list.

This system does tap into the brake light switch wire to display when your brakes are being activated, but your Trailblazer's wire isn't accessible so you'll also need to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM62FR in order to get the signal.

Since the battery needs to be disconnected while you tow I recommend installing the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 to make this process as easy as pressing a button. I also recommend installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 to prevent your Trailblazer's battery from draining while you tow.
