Question:
I have a beck equipment trailer that is rated at 10k. It has two axles. I’d like to convert the existing surge brakes to electric. Do I install two brakes rated at 10k each, or two brakes rated at 5k each, or four brakes rated at 2,500? Only one axle currently has surge brakes. Thank you!

Helpful Expert Reply:
You want to pick out your brakes based on the axle capacity of the axle you will be installing them on. So you would need a set of 5,200 lb trailer axle brake assemblies like the # AKEBRK-7-SA and you'd be set.
