Question:
I have a 14,000 lb toy hauler camper. How do you determine the correct weight needed for scissor jacks?

Expert Reply:
Scissor jacks only handle a very small portion of the trailer's weight since the majority of it placed on the axles/wheels and either the landing gear (5th wheel) or trailer jack (travel trailer). The Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24 you were looking at has a 5,000lb capacity per jack and would be more than enough stabilize your 14,000lb toy hauler. Since there is only two jacks per kit you would need to order to kits to stabilize all four corners of the trailer.
You could most likely go with a lower rated option like the # TJSCHD-24-4 (2,500lb per jack), but with you having a toy hauler you'll most likely be loading and unloading heavy equipment on and off the rear of the trailer so a bit heavier duty with the # JSC-24 would be the better choice.
