Should I Unplug My 7-Way When Raising my Dump Trailer
Published 03/14/2014 >
Question:
I have a 2005 chevy silverado 2500 hd with a 40 amp fuse accessory circuit and 7 way plug . when dumping heavy loads from a dump box trailer with a onboard battery, should I leave the 7 way pluged in and the truck running to maintain battery charge or unplug it when dumping to protect truck wiring and 40 amp fuse from overload.

Helpful Expert Reply:
I would recommend you unplug the 7-way before you activate the dump feature of your trailer. A lot of times if you leave the 7-way plugged in while dumping your trailer it will short out the 12 volt accessory circuit.
