Question:
How do I know whether or not I need the kit with the converter or not? I have a 2011 Ford Flex SEL 3.8L V6

Expert Reply:
If your 2011 Ford Flex SEL did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you can either use the T-connector without the converter, # 118472, or you could use one with a powered converter, # C56343. Either harness will work. The benefit of having the powered converter is that it gets power for the trailer lights from the vehicle battery, not through the tail light wiring. This adds another level of circuit protection. Whenever there is a powered converter available for a vehicle, I recommend them over a regular harness for that reason.
