Question:
Can you run a single axle trailer with one self-adjusting brake assembly and one manual adjusting assembly?
asked by: Bill M
Expert Reply:
Since self-adjusting brakes adjust on their own you'd never get the settings to match between the self-adjusting and manual adjust brake assemblies. This can cause uneven braking which could also throw off your ability to control the trailer and come to a safe stop. This also applies for tandem/triple axle trailers for the same safety reasons.
Since the part you're looking at is used on 3,500lb assemblies and you have a single axle trailer I'll assume that's the weight class you'll be needing for brake assemblies. For self-adjust assemblies I recommend part # AKEBRK-35-SA, for manual-adjust assemblies I recommend part # AKEBRK-35. I've attached some videos below to help walk you through the installation process.
