Recommendations for a 2011 KZ Sportsmen Classic 16RBT to Gain Ground Clearance
Question:
Inquiring about getting my camper a little higher off the ground. What is the largest possible tire size upgrade from the ST175/8013 Load Range C currently on my 2011 KZ Sportsmen Classic 16RBT? Looking at the axle over/under flip kit from Dexter, but would also like to know if I could get a TALLER tire under the wheel well, without the axle flip? Would it be possible to upgrade to a 14 inch wheel/tire?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Your current tire size has an overall diameter of 24.1 inches, if you were to go up to the smallest diameter 14 inch wheel setup you would be going with the 205/75-14 size that has an overall diameter of 26.3 inches.
That gives you a difference of 2.2 inches of diameter, or when you divide that in two to account for how the additional diameter is split on either side of the hub there will be 1.1 inches of less clearance in the wheel well. It will be up to you to determine if you have the necessary clearance for that.
In order to pick out a 14 inch wheel you would also need to know what your current hub bolt pattern is so you can pick out the correct wheel. I attached an FAQ article on how to do that.
If you have a 3 inch axle you would want the Over Under Kit # K71-385-00, if you have a 2-3/8 inch axle you would want the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00. Most likely this would be your best option for gaining ground clearance.
