Question:

I’m looking for the Thule Traverse Fit Kit 1689 which contains custom clips and pads that work cohesively with the Thule 480 and 480R Traverse Foot Pack to create a secure rack system for my 2017 F150. I think it will allow me to put my older Thule square bar rack on top of my cab so I can mount a canoe farther forward than I can with just my topper rack. Will this kit allow me to modify the feet of my older rack to fit my newer truck?

I have an alternative solution for you to use your older Thule square crossbars on your 2017 Ford F-150, but there unfortunately aren't any fit kits that will work with the Thule 480 you need for your square bars. The fit kit 1689 is discontinued and was for a Lexus GS-Series vehicle as well so even if you were able to find it as a resale shop it wouldn't fit your F-150.

Instead I recommend picking up the Inno Feet # INSUT and Fit Kit # INK139. This sounds a little weird but we've found that the Inno square crossbars, like the 65" Long # INB165 for your 2017 F-150, have the same dimensions and basic design as the older Thule square crossbars which is why you can use the Inno parts.
