Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Honda CR-V with Wires Blocking a Mounting Hole
Updated 02/24/2014 | Published 02/21/2014 >
Question:
before I buy I have noticed on my crv there are wires going into the mount hole drivers side towards the front. They come out of this mount hole and follow the frame back to bumper area and tie into other wires. How would I install with this issue

Anything that is in the way of the hitch mounting side brackets and/or the hardware to mount the hitch would have to be moved out of the way. You would have to pull the wiring harness you see back towards the front of the vehicle and out of that hole using something like fish tape or a straightened wire hanger. Then re-route it so that it is not in the way.
I have linked a video showing an installation of Curt hitch # 13535 on a 2006 CR-V and the process will be the same, minus the wires you mentioned, on your 2005.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and storage bag. For trailer wiring use # 118336. I have linked a video of the wiring as well.
