Question:
Im trying to install vertical etrack in the back of my toyhauler for a bed system. The studs are only 1.25inch wide and the etrack is 3.5. The walls in the trailer are thin laminate for light weight. Can I just attatch one side of the etrack to the stud and use like hollow Wall Mount hardware on the other? Ill use it for storage as well. I thought about a 2x6 but that would add to much weight. Installing the Etracks vertically in the way you described could work depending on how much weight the etracks would be supporting.
I think the 2x6 idea would also work, but since you are concerned that would be too much weight you could split the difference and go with a lighter board like a piece of thicker plywood. You could attach the plywood to the stud and then the etrack to the plywood.
Another option would be to get the E-Track Backing Plate # e96RR.
