Question:

I am about ready to modify my newly purchased 2019 Colorado Z71 for flat towing. I have seen the following recommendation from your website: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - part # RM-523182-5 Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar - part # RM-676 Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit - part # RM-15267 Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch - part # RM-766 Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - part # SM99251 Motorhome Hydraulic Brakes Air Force One Supplemental Braking System - part # SM99243 Motorhome Air Brakes Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - part # RM-751472 I am leaning on instead of the Roadmaster base plates/towbar using the Demco baseplates and XHD tow bar you make. I am interested in what you see as the advantages/disadvantages of that particular change.

I would be happy to confirm the parts you referenced fit your 2019 Chevy Colorado and are compatible together. I have listed them below, along with any changes, and attached installation videos.

Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit item # RM-751472

You won't need the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. The Nighhawk tow bar has the coiled cable and the connector already. You will only need the Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit item # RM-152.

I recommend sticking with the Roadmaster set up for tow bar, base plate kit, and wiring. With the exception of their supplemental braking systems Roadmaster is the standard for flat towing equipment. If you do decide to make the change you will need the following parts:

etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar item # e74ZR - This works with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate item # RM-523182-5

You would need all the pieces of the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267 if you switched over to the etrailer tow bar.

If you want to go with a Demco base plate kit you would need:
