Question:

My SUV has a 2” hitch receiver, and the measurement from the ground to the inside top of the hitch receiver is 17 ¼”, I bought a Yakima pack and roll trailer, and the recommended distance from the ground to the top of the ball is 22”. I want to have a system that has the ball mount and a 2” receiver for my bike rack. I see that you offer the D210 Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2” receiver for bike racks and cargo carriers but it has a 2” for the ball mount that will bring the top of the ball around 17 ¾” from the ground that is lower than the recommended 22”. Do you have another ball mount with 2” receiver that has a rise of 2”? or can I use the D210 even if get lower than recommended?

Trailer's couplers and hitch balls are considered level when they are within 2"-3" of height. You are correct the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount item # D210 will drop down 2-1/4" and put the top of the item # A-90 hitch ball right at 17-3/4". This set up may work but I wouldn't recommend it. You will want your trailer as level as possible and this will have your nose down quite a bit. All of the multipurpose mounts have the same 2-1/4" drop.

Instead you will want to use the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-325. When inverted this ball mount has a rise up to 10". The five stacked receivers will allow you to have the same height as your trailer's coupler and give you the ability to mount your bike rack. A 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball are included.
