Question:

Has this issue been corrected for the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD or is this adapter still needed for the camera to work properly?

That issue isn't going away. GM did it to limit the amount of voltage going to the 7-way. You will need the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter item # FR87PR for your camera to work properly.

If you do not like having to use a 7-way adapter there is also the option to hardwire the 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems item # VGR64VR. This accomplishes the same thing and works like a capacitor to maintain a steady voltage supply. This is a one time set up and will eliminate the hassle of constantly having to use a 7-way adapter.
