How to Lift 2025 Keystone Coleman 17B

Updated 02/08/2026 | Published 01/30/2026

Question:

I have a 2025 keystone Coleman 17b. I’d like to lift it a couple inches as it scrapes going into and out of my driveway. What Kit would you recommend?

Hi Justin; do the leaf springs run under your axle (underslung) or are they sitting on top of the axle (overslung)? If you have the underslung configuration you can use the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 you were looking at. This version is specifically designed for a 2-3/8" diameter axle so you will need to make sure that matches your axle.

If you already have the leaf springs on top of your axle you can extend your hangers with two of the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # LC87120. The other option is to cut off the existing hangers and weld on longer hangers which would lift the trailer.

What trip are you most excited to take once the 17B is lifted?

We have a 2025 KZ Sportsmen 130RD, a similar size trailer to yours. Ours came with a single 3500# Dexter spring axle. Same problem, the back of the trailer scraped on the driveway and on every speed bump around. We installed the Dexter over-under conversion kit along with slightly larger 15" wheels & tires. It gained about 4" of clearance overall. That made all the difference in the world. Now we can take the trailer anywhere, including off-road which we did last month. Handling didn't seem to be affected by the extra height, but we tow with a 3/4 ton pickup also. KZ has an "off road package" that they sell for an extra $1500ish, but we were able to install the over-under conversion kit and bigger wheels for half that price on etrailer. So far we're very happy!

I have a 2013 Jayco Swift SLX. 2-3/8” Dexter Axle was above springs so retro-fit with the axle perch kit that was suggested by the etrailer expert. With one person to help and a level concrete pad to work on, new install took all of a couple hours. A can of penetrating oil for removing existing U-bolts and a good set of large end wrenches to work with made the job quite painless . Very happy with the outcome!!! Easy in and out of those places where I used to drag. Added close to 4” of overall lift.

I have an extremely steep driveway with different degrees of incline. All of my (5) trailers scraped in the back and at the raised jack in the front. I also have a lifted vehicle. The flip kit and a taller tire(that fits)-usually no more than 2 tire size height increases should solve the back end. I ended up and needed to convert my trailer ball receiver into an adjustable taller reciever, because you can only go down so far with a truck drop hitch, with a lift. That and sawing off the bottom 2” of the jack stand(when tucked up). We off road it. I welded the lift bracket tabs as well. If a taller profile makes you nervous, you can get a wider tire or wheel spacers to get a wider stance, accepting the fact you may go thru trailer wheel bearings faster, so an extra set, stashed, is nice. Great kit, no problems!

We converted from an underslung to an over slung on our coleman popup. It was an easy conversion using basic tools and small welder. Best thing we have done to the camper so far! Gained a few inches of ground clearance and were able to install larger rims and tires. The ground clearance is great when pulling into more remote sites. Plus, it tracks better behind the truck. We gained about 6 1/2". So we do need to use blocks under the stabilizers and a box step under the factory step.
