Troubleshooting Furrion Camera With 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter Only Works With Light Test

Updated 02/19/2025 | Published 02/15/2025

Question:

I have a 2025 Silverado diesel dually. The adapter only powers the camera during a light test. Any ideas?

Hey Paul! It doesn't sound like the # FR87PR is the problem here. Can you tell me which lights turn the camera on? The Furrion camera can be wired to the running lights, reverse lights, or directly to a 12V power source. Since it is only working when you test the lights it sounds like it is wired to the lights and not directly to 12V power which would explain this behavior.

@PaulL so the camera isn't getting power with the truck started and the running lights on but when the truck is off and you turn on the running lights the camera works?

If I turn the headlights off of auto and turn on the running lights the camera works.

@PaulL ok so it sounds like everything is working as intended aside from the lights on your vehicle not supplying power to the camera via the running light circuit while on auto. I'm assuming your trailer side marker lights are not on without manually switching just like the camera since it is the same circuit. The issue is on your vehicle/with the vehicle light settings. The adapter solves the problem of pulse width modulation but cannot supply power on its own without the running lights.
