Where Do Strip Seals Install at on Yakima SkyBox Series Rooftop Cargo Boxes

Question:

Do these seal the perimeter of the box from rain and water intrusion? My Carbonite 16 SkyBox does have any rubber seals along the perimeter is this an upgrade to further weatherproof the box? Any instructions on how these are used and installed?

The Replacement Seal Strips for Yakima SkyBox Series Rooftop Cargo Boxes part # 8870086 isn't an upgrade, it's just a factory replacement for the seals that come with the box from the factory. These install inside the box, on the bottom under the mounting hardware. There isn't a perimeter seal for this box, the wind tends to push water in from the front or rear depending on how the box is positioned so if you can, try to center the box front to back for the best leak protection. That said, these boxes aren't waterproof nor are any rooftop cargo boxes so you'll need to be mindful of that when placing items inside.

I spoke to Yakima but they do not have any instructions for this part unfortunately. That said, it should be self-explanatory once you remove the mounting hardware.
