There are a number of parts you'll need to flat tow your 2013 Mini Cooper S Coupe, which I'll go ahead and list out for you, then talk about.
- Base Plate Kit: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1307
- Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # e47ZR
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR
I verified directly with Blue Ox that their base plates fit your Mini, and these will provide you with a safe hook-up connection with the tow bar as Blue Ox has a deserved reputation for the quality of their base plates. These plates also give your Mini a nice, clean look when you aren't towing it due to their removable arms.
For the tow bar, the SD Non-Binding Tow Bar is super easy to use, as you'll just hook up and drive your motorhome forward, locking the bars in place. The tow bar has a 6,500 lb capacity, which is well over what your Mini weighs, and even comes with safety cables so you don't have to purchase those separately.
I really like the Flexo-Coil wiring kit because it is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback, keeping your Mini's electrical system safe, and the charge line kit will keep its battery charged as it is being towed. As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is easily the best because it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your truck is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems.
