Question:
Looking for additional advise on WD/sway Hitch. Talked to Danial D. 1/23/23 following up with reply from Jarred H. 1/22/23 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Estimated Hitch weight 700# Q: Which WD hitch would have better sway control? BXW0750 if available BXW1006 recommend I have now come across etrailer articles and others stating that on snow/ice/gravel these hitches should not be employed. So Im confused as I thought they would help and that I have always used ours in the past. Can you advise?

The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution item # BXW0750 has a tongue weight range of 550 lbs to 750 lbs. If your tongue weight is going to be over 750 lbs this system will be under rated and ineffective at addressing any sway control issues.
You previously stated that your trailer has a 7,400 lbs gross towing weight. Tongue weight is typically 10% - 15% of your trailer's total weight. I recommended the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BXW1006 because this system has a tongue weight range of 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs. If you are within this range you will want to use the heavier rated weight distribution system.
I recommend loading up your trailer and using the BetterWeigh Mobile Tongue Weight and Payload Scale item # C51701 to get an accurate tongue weight and make your decision based off of that information. Another option is to go to a highway weight station and have them weigh your truck with your trailer hooked up.
You can use both of these systems in snow, gravel, and ice. You will want to disconnect the sway bars if you are going over rough or uneven terrain with large ruts though.
