Will the black wire connected to the battery always be hot? Won’t this cause a constant drain on the battery?

Expert Reply:
Without something drawing amperage from a wire/circuit the battery would not discharge. So no, the black power wire of the Curt kit part # C45ZV would not drain the battery if left connected. The wiring of your vehicle is the same way. All of the electronics of your vehicle are connected to the main positive lead on your battery but they aren't active so the battery doesn't discharge.
