End Cap Will Not Stay In Vortex Aero Crossbar

I have this same question below. The end caps simply fall off because the tab does not engage the slot when the keyinch is turned. Please advise if you know of an answer. I will also contact the manufacturer.

It sounds like there is either a defect with the end caps or they have been damaged. In any case they would need to be replaced. If they are defective you can either reach out to the manufacturer or vendor directly for a replacement or if they were damaged by the end user you would need to replace them yourself using the Rhino-Rack Secure Core Endcaps part # RRVA-SEC4. There is also an option for metal locks, the Rhino-Rack Locking Endcaps for Vortex Aero Crossbars part # RRVA-LEC4 which offer more security.
If you take a look at the attached photos, you can see the locking knob on the back of the end cap which engages with a keyway slot inside the crossbars and that is what secures the end cap to the crossbar.

The locking knob on mine, all four end caps, will not go far enough in to engage the slot. It’s 1 to 2 mm short and no amounts of coaxing gets it far enough.
