Reducing sag on a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 Hauling a 5,500 lb Travel Trailer  

When we first purchased our used 2020 Grand Design Imagine 2400BH, I owned a 2018 F150 Lariat. I have not seen your photo but agree with James to first make sure weight distribution hitch is set up to optimum. We own Equalizer brand but sure it is similar to yours in function. I added the Road Active Suspension and purchased the heavy duty ones. Would not recommend going heavy duty on these. While I liked the added stability and support when towing or truck loaded, the heavy duty ones were too much. I had them at the loosest setting and it raised the tailgate about an inch and the ride was firm. I did not try the standard version. While they were easy to install, if I could re-design them, I would make them easily detachable - put on when needed and take off the rest of the time. I traded my F150 for a 2025 Tundra and it has a rear suspension which is more soft than the Ford. I upgraded the shocks to adjustable ones and that was the ticket for this truck. It has coil springs and not leaf springs and so I left the Road Active on the F150 when I sold it. On the Tundra, I tried the timbren rubber stops. Worked well when fully engaged and loaded but when empty, a small bump would give a donkey kick. Returned them. What also made a huge difference in trailer stability was upgrading the leaf springs. I went a touch more stiff than the factory ones and added wet bolts versus the plastic bushings. This significantly reduced the body roll and wiggling when vehicles like semi-trucks passed. Hope this helps a touch.

I installed the RoadActive Suspension # RAS3611-YHD in about an hour and my F-150 2020 4x4 now pulls my 34' 10,000lb camper level using an Anderson Weight Distribution Hitch. I have the max tow package and am within yellow door sticker Weights. But used to sag and really struggle with trailer sway before adding the RoadActive Suspension. Highly recommended!

I have a 22 F150 4X4 long bed. I’ve installed these a couple years ago, and very pleased with them. This setup is much better than air bags. I had a 17 F150 with air bags, and when emptied the truck had too much bounce. So I was always adjusting the air pressure. The Road Active suspension was set it and forget it. I also tow my travel trailer and have zero sag. If I knew how to add photos, I would show you what the stance is with and without the trailer. The truck always seems leveled.

I have a 2020 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 with a towing package pulling our 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB travel trailer. The dry weight on the trailer is approximately 6,050 pounds. The truck sagged a bit even with the Equalizer load distribution hitch. I invested in the RoadActive suspension system James mentioned. I have been extremely happy with the RAS system. It eliminated the sag in my pickup and helps to reduce sway when pulling the trailer. I really like the added stability of the RAS system. My pickup box is approximately one inch higher at the rear wheels after installing the RAS system. Of course when not loaded the truck definitely rides stiff. I have the RAS system set near maximum support. For me the RAS system has provided the solution for my towing concerns.

I pull a 27’ Airstream Flying Cloud with a 2017 F150 King Ranch with tow package and 3.5L engine. I use an Equalizer WDH. When I upgraded to the Flying Cloud from a smaller Basecamp 20X I wanted to ensure I would not have any sag. I contacted eTrailer and inquired about installing airbags. The response indicated I probably didn’t need to do anything but if I did I should install the appropriate RAS system. I did and have been very happy. No maintenance and the ride, without the trailer, has actually improved. My trailer weights 7200lbs and my truck bed is packed tightly and includes 2 Yakima boxes full of other necessary items over the bed. I agree with another post that you should make sure your hitch is properly adjusted. At only 5500 lbs and utilizing a WDH I am not sure you need anything.
