Question:
According to the installation instructions, the 16310 5th wheel adapter weighs 100 pounds and adds an additional piece of equipment to the connection of the Ultimate hitch to my new Tundra. The installation instructions for the B&W BW46FR does not provide the weight but recommends installation by two or three individuals to lift it in place for mounting. I suspect that means its heavy. Add to that my Ultimate hitch designed for rail mounts which weighs just under 50 pounds and I am concerned that the tongue weight will be drastically reduced. Do you know how much the B&W setup actually weighs? I could not find it anywhere. I could purchase the Ultimate hitch designed for flipover gooseneck mounts which would save the 100 pounds but set me back $1000 alone. With the location of the B&W BW46FR I cannot add air bags according to various manufacturers. Do you have any insight on the weight of the BW46FR setup so I can calculate the reduction in tongue weight? Thanks again for your reply.

I would be happy to help you set your 2022 Toyota Tundra up for towing. Let me start out by confirming the weight on those parts.
The Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter item # 16310 weighs 105 lbs.
The Custom Underbed Installation Kit item # BW46FR weighs 104 lbs.
Toyota really puts you in a box when it comes to options for towing a 5th wheel trailer. You are correct you can not add the Turnover ball system and air bags. There are other suspension options like the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops item # T83MR. This system fits both the 2WD and 4WD models and is compatible with in bed hitches. This system has a 4,800 lbs load leveling capacity.
We do have another option for a 5th wheel hitch since you have the 6-1/2' bed, you can use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3400-5W. This will attach directly to the underbed installation kit without needing an adapter. The Companion has a 20,000 lbs capacity and will give you 12" of travel for making tight turns and backing up.
The Companion weighs 212 lbs.
