Troubleshooting Husky Brute 4500 Trailer Jack Not Operating with Controls

Updated 10/18/2025 | Published 11/28/2022

Question:

Husky Brute 4500 trailer jack Jack will not retract or lift trailer. Can hear a clicking sound coming from motor. Battery shows full charge. Reground still just a click and a very slow extension of foot with no load on it. Will not retract at all. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:

If your Husky Brute 4500 isn't extending or retracting properly then I recommend using the manual override to see if it's something internal or if it's an electronic part of the jack.

For a replacement electrical part you'll need to contact Husky directly since they should have something for you. If it's internal then I recommend replacing the jack completely with the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # SC63VR. This is an A-Frame jack rated for 4,500 lbs and it offers a 23" lift so it will work great as a replacement option.

I had the same problem with the Husky Brute 4500. Slow or no movement. Solution: Clean the grounding screw connection found inside the gray cover, on the side of the motor, at the end of the Yellow with Green Stripe wire. Apply No Ox or silicone to prevent oxidation.
