New Leaf Springs & Equalizer Upgrade on Grand Design Reflection 312BHTS Travel Trailer
Question:
This weekend I was able to take the load off the springs and do some measurements. Springs for axles rated at 5300lbs 25 1/4" (Eye to eye and center of bolt) Equalizer (Definitely want to upgrade this.) (Part# 013-122-02) Horizontal measurement was 7 9/16" Top bolt to bottom bolt (center of bolt) is 2 7/8" Shackle Straps (Definitely want to upgrade this.) 3 1/2" long 1 1/4" Wide 2 1/14" Eye to Eye 1/4" Thick I am thinking the springs you recommended were probably the best fit since they were a bit shorter per your recommendation. I tried finding 6000 lb springs on the site but I couldn't find any shorter than 25-1/4". Any information you can provide would be appreciated, Thanks

So starting with the question about weight, since you have 5,200 lb axles, go with the 5,300 lb leaf springs, or even 6,000 lb leaf springs would be okay, but I do not recommend going with springs rated less than the axle capacity. The number of springs doesn't come into play, the capacity is what really matters. As for fit, we don't have a way of knowing what leaf springs are on any trailer - the same goes for the equalizer - so you'll need to do some measuring.
Leaf springs do flatten out over time like you saw, so what you want to do is measure your current springs - from center eye to center eye - and get ones a bit shorter by an 1/2" or 1" or so. For example, if your springs measure 25-1/8" you would go with the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,300-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # e76SR.
Same thing with the equalizer upgrade, as you'll need to measure the distance from center to center of the bolt holes horizontally, and from the top bolt hole to the middle of the equalizer, and get as close as you can. For example, if your equalizer measured 14-1/2" from center to center horizontally and 3-1/4" tall, you would use the Equa-Flex Equalizers # LC314336.
I have added a link below to our entire selection of both leaf springs and equalizers, or if you want to let me know the measurements you get, I'll take a look and see what we have for you.
