I HAVE A DEXTER P15 AXLE 8000 LB THE K23-172-00 LOOKS CORRECT EXCEPT FOR THE LONG ARM ATTACHED ABOVE THE CYLINDER. THE BRAKES I HAVE DO NOT HAVE THE ARM AT ALL. WILL THE K23-172-00 STILL WORK?

It sounds like you have the Dexter Hydraulic Drum Brake Kit # 23-402-403 on your Dexter P15 8,000lb axle. The Arm on the Dexter Hydraulic Drum Brake Left # K23-171-00 and Right # K23-172-00 is for a parking brake feature. While you will be able to fit both to the same axle I do not recommend using them if they are not attached to any parking brake line. Over time the parts could lead a premature failure since they will not be regularly used.
We do have the Kit # 23-402-403 available separately with the Left # 23-402 and Right # 23-403 if you are only needing one side.
