This actuator comes primed and ready for welding to a straight 3" wide trailer tongue. Since it’s a weld-on model, you get a permanent, solid mount with no bolt holes to line up or hardware to loosen later. The primed finish protects the steel during setup and gives you a smooth surface to paint once it’s in place. It’s the kind of blank canvas that makes a custom trailer project simple to finish the right way.
A glass-reinforced nylon master cylinder gives this surge-type actuator its durability and corrosion resistance. Unlike metal cylinders that can rust or pit, this one keeps operating smoothly season after season. The large reservoir holds more brake fluid to help prevent running dry, and the automotive-style diaphragm cap seals the system against contamination. Together, they give you consistent braking performance you can count on.
The built-in 8" adjustable channel makes fine-tuning easy. It has three mounting positions that let you set your coupler (sold separately) at just the right height so your trailer stays level. Whether you’re using a standard ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis attachment, this channel gives you flexibility without extra parts or guesswork.
The actuator includes an integrated breakaway that automatically applies your trailer brakes if it ever separates from your tow vehicle. Hello again etrailer fans, I'm Steven. Today we're looking at this Demco hydraulic brake actuator. Now this is an eight inch adjustable channel and this whole component is rated 8,000 pounds gross towing weight. So again, 8,000 pounds, 800 tongue weight. It has an eight inch channel up or down, and three inch side to side. Now you can put your adjustable coupler sold separately in this head.
This channel does have three positions, so two bolts for each position. So you got 1, 2, 3 positions. Now the hydraulic actuator simply activates your trailer brakes when towing vehicle slows or stops. Thus, you know this guy gets kind of pushed together. That's gonna activate automatically by push and brake fluid out to the trailer brakes or camper brakes.
It's got a very nice composite master cylinder here and a nice automotive style diaphragm cap that completely enclosed systems. They're gonna help prevent contamination of fluid and the glass reinforced nylon construction of the tank itself or reservoir rather. That's also gonna resist rust, corrosion, that kind of stuff. Now this does use what's called an acetal copolymer lining. So on this sliding in and out of here is gonna be very, very smooth operation as it telescopes in and out.
It does have the breakaway cable built in already. So simply hook this hook up to your safety chain attachment point on the tow vehicle. God forbid something does happen, it's gonna automatically pull this cable, turn this latch over here and apply the brakes automatically for a safe stopping. Now again, it's a heavy duty steel construction. Very nice made product.
It's got a weld-on installation, so you weld this onto the camper trailer. It is made in the USA. Very nice prime finish as you can see here, you could paint it any other color if you want to. It is considered what's called a model DA91. For those of you that are replacing one, maybe you know the model number, this is a DA91. Does have a nice one year warranty. Package wasn't the greatest, it was a heavy item and should have been packaged a little better, box was torn and one of the clips that holds the pins in place was missing
We're replacing old brake units on our fleet of tank trailers. These Demco actuators have a longer adjustment channel than the ones we could get locally, and they were cheaper. Great customer service also!
It does the Job. I tried to talk them in to going with an electric over hydraulic Disc system but the did not want to spend the money with this set up at least is has some brakes.

I am building a very strong utility trailer for a Mustang Skid Steer- I'm a welder by many years- and strong matters. I will put a 'dully' axel under a dump truck body with hydraulic breaks- thus you product was a perfect fit- strong, functional and safe. Thank you for your design intelligence and craftsmanship. I am set up for two trucks- a big one, Mack B-81SX, and a pick-up.
Well built just replaced a old unit that been sitting for years and had been jackknifed
we received in the hitch, we installed it without a problem.
the tech tried to beleed the brakes.
the tech was having problems with the master cylinder sticking.
we ordered in a replacement master cylinder in. after the new master cylinder was installed the tech bled the brakes with no issue. we received the hitch in with a bad master cylinder
