Under-Bed 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2013 Ram 2500 mega cab laramie. My truck didnt come with the factory oem 5th wheel puck prep package. Is there an aftermarket 5th wheel puck system that I can get? **RP30074**

You can definitely install an underbed-mounting system for a 5th wheel hitch on your 2013 Ram 2500 but it will be an aftermarket setup. The Reese puck setup that fits your Ram has the same footbase as a Ford OEM puck system which still works out well but is different enough that you can't use a 5th wheel hitch that fits the OEM Ram puck system.

Out of the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1313-5W and Reese Under-Bed # RP30074 kits I like the Reese kit a little more because you can pair it with the B&W Companion # BWRVK3370 for a manual sliding hitch or the Demco Hijacker # DM8550024 which slides automatically and eliminates the need to get in and out of your truck so you can safely make large turns. Some people still prefer the manual option which is why I threw the Companion into the mix.

The B&W gooseneck hitch is amazing and extremely popular but it limits you to a manual sliding hitch for 5th wheel towing since it has that single point connection. If you're needing to tow gooseneck trailers as well then you'll find more benefit from using the gooseneck hitch with the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W instead.

I also recommend adding a 7-Way electrical socket in your truck bed with part # C56070 so it's easier to connect the wiring from your trailer.
