Best Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2020 Honda CR-V For Bike Rack
Updated 08/18/2022 | Published 08/17/2022 >
Question:
I have to get another vehicle, and Im probably going to get a 2019 or 2020 Honda CR-V EX SUV. What 2 Class III hitch would you recommend that would be the lowest profile and not hang so low as old-fashioned hitches do? Im thinking of a Class III hitch for the highest stability, just incase I must someday move into eBike territory. Right now I have 5 high-snoot, expensive, custom-made all steel tubed bikes ranging from lightweight road bike up to a sturdy MTB with straight bars. My bias is that 2 hitches are the best way to go for the highest stability, but Im open to your suggestions.

First, you're absolutely right about 2 inch hitches being the best option for a bike rack, and on a 2020 Honda CR-V, I recommend the EcoHitch trailer hitch. The reason for that is it has the best clearances of any hitch for a 2020 CR-V; the correct part number is the following:
- EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7345
When we test fit the EcoHitch # 306-X7345 on a '19 CR-V and '21 CR-V we found that the bumper clearance was between 2-1/2 to 3 inches, and the ground clearance was between 14-1/2 to 15 inches (things like if the tires were fully inflated and weight in the hatch area account for that slight difference).
This hitch - which does also fit a 2019 CR-V - has a 525 lb tongue weight capacity, which is the most combined weight your bike rack and bikes can weigh. That gives you more than enough capacity should you ever decide to move into eBike territory like you mentioned you may do at some point.
