Question:

Hi, I`m looking at 2 of your Sport Rider SE bike racks, the HLY84FR for 2 hitches and the HLY74FR for 1-1/4 and 2 hitches, when reading the specifications of both racks, both seem to be the same size, load capacity etc. except that the latter will fit 1-1/4 and 2 hitches where the other will only fit 2 hitches. My question is to find out what the differences are between these two if any other than one can be adapted to 1-1/4 and not the other? Is the HLY84FR stronger because it has a bigger tube going into the hitch? Why would I buy the HLY84FR 2 only when the HLY74FR would let me accommodate both 2 and 1-1/4 hitches? I would be happy to help clear up any confusion you have over the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack item # HLY84FR and item # HLY74FR. You are absolutely correct both of those bike racks have the same capacity and function. Both frame mount racks can carry two e-bikes up to 80 lbs apiece. They can both be hauled behind any standard vehicle and a motorhome.

However, the main difference and the reason you will want the Item # HLY84FR is because item # HLY74FR for 1-1/4 " and 2" hitches can only fit in Class II 1-1/4" hitches. I don't have your specific vehicle information but most 1-1/4" hitches are Class I. They will have a metal insert at the rear of the receiver which will prevent you from using bike racks that are rated for Class II and III hitches. If you are able to mount a bike rack on a class I hitch and have any damage or failure you will not be covered by warranty. For this reason I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack item # HLY84FR if you have a 2" hitch.
