Can I Upgrade My Reese Hitch and Use the Same Rails?

I have a Reese 16k hitch and rails. Can I just buy any Reese 20k hitch and put on my existing rails?

Yes, since your Reese 5th wheel hitch attached to industry standard rails in your 2020 Ram 3500 you will be able to mount a larger hitch like the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # RP30928. You will be limited by the capacity of the rails. Typically the rails match the capacity of the hitch being used with them so if you bought your rail kit with the rails there is a good possibility you will need to upgrade them to achieve the full capacity of your new 5th wheel hitch. If you end up needing to replace your rails I recommend the Reese Universal Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10 Bolt item # RP58058. If you can find a part number on your rail kit I will be able to verify its capacity.
