Question:

I would like to set my hitch height before I pick up my new 5th wheel. I am picking up a 2020 Riverstone Legacy 39RKFB and I have a Ford F350 Duelly. My hitch is the M5 20,000 lb. unit. Is thier a way of finding out what the preset height should be for this combination of elements. Thanks,

The lube plate # RP83001 will do the job to keep your pin box from scraping as it slides onto the head of your Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30922 but you can also grease the jaws using a grease gun like # L30132 to apply grease to the grease fitting on top of the hitch. We don't have the needle adapters required but a local hardware store or even elsewhere online would pretty easily have them as they are very common.

The height setting for your Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package- Single Jaw - 27,000lbs # RP30922 will depend on the difference between the height of your bed and the height from the ground to the king pin plate while the trailer is level. For example if your bed height is 40" and the king pin plate height is 55" then you would have a 15" difference and would want to place your hitch at 15" tall. When setting the height of your 5th wheel hitch you also need to keep in mind that you'll need to have at least 6" of space between the nose of the camper and the top of your bed rails.
