Installing Curt T-Connector # C56172 on 2013 Ford Explorer

Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Explorer base and the wire harness is no where close to what I have on my Vehicle. i have a single connection with nothing to unplug. what is the difference, do i need a different harness?

According to my contact in the tech services department at Curt, what we are looking at in your photo is a protective cap placed on the connector. Somewhere near the connector you found, there should be the other half of the connector. You would need to remove the protective cap from each connector, then plug the # C56172 inline between the two connectors. You would then have a functioning 4-pole connector.
