You say this hitch, Curt #13509 is discontinued by Curt, Is there a new replacement for it by the Curt company. Is the replacemnt better and should i wait for it, or try and order the discontinued Curt hitch #13509 ?

The Curt Trailer Hitch 13509 that you referenced was discontinued and replaced with the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13149. The change was made to include 2013 vehicles. This hitch now is tested to fit 2006 - 2013 vehicles which includes your 2009 Toyota Rav4.

If you are looking to tow with your vehicle, I recommend checking out the Curt Custom Wiring # C56165 and also the Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which includes 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8 inch ball, a 2 inch ball, pin and clip and carrying bag.

I have attached brief installation video of the hitch on a 2013 Rav 4 and installation directions for the wiring kit.
