Question:
Wanting to verify that this hitch is compatible with my vehicle. 2017 BMW X5 with M Performance package. etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2 Item # e84AR

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e84AR is confirmed to fit your 2017 BMW X5 M. The designation can be confusing sometimes since it is listed as fitting the M and also everything else that is not the M. This Class III hitch has a 2" receiver with a 6,000 lb gross trailer weight and 600 lb max tongue weight.
If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the # 119250KIT for your wiring needs. This will provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. For a ball mount, check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
