Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this CURT T connector vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. Now this wiring harness has been designed to fit your 2015 to 2018 BMWX 5 and on custom fit parts such as this wiring harness I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this harness will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now this harness is going to give you a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Beamer to power your trailer signal lights.

This is also going to be compatible with five, six, and seven pole adapters and those adapters are sold separately. As you can see here, a dust cap is included to cover up those connection points when this plug is not in use. And then we have a black box on this harness that is going to be your power taillight converter. This is going to make sure that your Beamer's wiring matches out of your trailer. This connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading its electrical system.

It's gonna help reduce strain on your vehicle's wiring system. By the way, CURT does build each converter using surface mount technology for consistent, reliable performance. It maximizes trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat, ensuring superior operation in rough road conditions. Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. You will need to locate your vehicle's wiring harness and when you find that harness, which you'll do is you'll just disconnect the plugs on the harness and then you will plug these T connectors in between them.

And you wanna be careful not to break the locking tabs. And then you'll just, like I said, carefully insert these key T connector ends between your vehicle's wiring connectors and lock them into place. Now these T connectors are custom fitted for your Beamer, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on the vehicle. They're gonna snap and lock together for a tight secure fit. The instructions will guide you as to where that harness is, where you need to get to, on your BMW to find those plugs to plug these into.

But once you have these plugged in, you will need to make a good ground connection. And the ground wire is this white wire. If you notice, it does have a ring terminal attached to it. Also comes with a self-tapping screw. So you can get this grounded to a suitable location such as your vehicle's frame or cross member. You just wanna make sure that that surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will want to mount your converter box to a safe, out of the way location. You could do that with another self-tapping screw if you have one on hand. This does come with double-sided adhesive tape and that's good to get it set into place. I don't think this is gonna hold it over the long term. So maybe you could use one of the included cable ties to secure this additionally. But you just wanna make sure that it's mounted to an out of the place location to where it's not gonna fall and rattle around over time. Then you will need to run the hot lead to your vehicle's battery. That's a short black wire that's coming out of this converter box. This short black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors. And then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery. And once you have this routed to the battery, you're going to take this fuse holder right here. You're gonna snip that wire in half and then you're gonna take one of those wires with the second butt connector and connect it to the routed end of this black bundle of wire. And then the other wire here is going to get a ring terminal attached to it, this one right here, and then that ring terminal is going to connect to the positive post of your Beamer's battery. This will open up and you can just slide in this 15 amp views. And so that's gonna go into this fuse holder right here. And then you'll just close that cover and that'll keep that fuse protected and safe. So as I mentioned, you are gonna get quite a few cable ties. You can use those cable ties to secure any slack in your wiring. And then once installation is complete, you could keep this in your cargo area when it's not in use or we do have bracketing options to where you could get a bracket to secure to mount this permanently outside of your vehicle, near your trailer hitch receiver. And we do have those options here at etrailer.com. As I mentioned, instructions are included and those instructions will guide you through the insulation process. And I would also recommend that, if you don't have some, to get your hands on some dielectric grease for electrical connections, as you can see there on your screen. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture and is recommended that you put the grease on the four-way flat and even on the connectors inside the vehicle themselves.
