Hitch and Load Extender Solution that Fits 2020 Toyota Prius
Question:
I have a 2020 Prius AWDe. Id like to be able to carry a canoe or rowing shell, but the Thule roof rack bars are separated by only about 30 in. Front and rear tie-downs are a no-brainer, but Im worried that that might put a lot of buckling stress on a 20foot boat. I think it would be better to have a longer support base. A suggestion was a trailer hitch with a roof rack extender. This looks like the right trailer hitch for the job, but do you have any recommendations on a roof rack extender that would give me a bar the same height as the racks? Any hope that it might still allow the trunk to open? Other suggestions?

The EcoHitch part # EH53VR that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2020 Toyota Prius and would work well with a Goal Post like part # TH997 that has an adjustable height to allow you to match the crossbar height.
