Question:
Hello- I bought a 2005 Tundra that looks like it was wired for, and has the installation instructions int he glovebox, for an original P1 Prodigy brake controller. I assume this is no longer made. Is the P2 compatible with the wiring that would have been installed originally? It looks to be a professional install. Id like to just replace the controller unit vs. replacing all the wiring and controller unit if possible. Thanks for any information.

The major difference between the Prodigy and the Prodigy P2 brake controller is that the P2 is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems.
Your existing wiring should be compatible, but you can confirm this by testing the bare wires or the existing plug that connected to original brake controller.
The existing plug should be fed by a black, white, a red and a blue wire. You can use a circuit tester like
# PTW2993 to test the wires or the sockets in the plug. The black wire should show a constant 12V and the red wire should show 12V when the brake pedal is pressed. The white wire is the ground and the blue wire is the output to the trailer connector.
