Items Needed To Flat Tow 2012 Honda CR-V Using Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

I bought a RV that came with a Falcon 5250 tow bar, I plan to use to tow a 2012 Honda CRV, it only came with the tow bar, can you help with the rest of the parts I need to order, need baseplate, wiring kit to add LED lights, cables and brake system. with the falcon 5250 can I direct mount to base plate or do in need to purchase the crossbar.

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM-521567-5 that you linked to is confirmed to fit the 2012 Honda CR-V. But the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-525 is compatible for Blue Ox vehicle-specific base plates. So please confirm the tow bar you have prior to ordering base plates and use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX2258 if you do have the tow bar for Blue Ox base plates. These are direct connect style so no need for a crossbar to be used with the tow bar. Note that there is a linked video below walking you through each step of installation on a 2012 Honda CR-V.

You will also need safety cable, if the tow bar did not come with them, I suggest the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643.

For indicator lights/tow bar wiring, you can install the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-152-98146-7.

And for needed supplemental braking, the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, # BLU37TR.

All trim levels of the 2012 Honda CR-V with automatic transmission can be flat-towed behind a motor home. But Honda does cautions that before flat towing your CR-V transmission fluid level and condition be checked. If you will flat tow often or for long periods (8 hours or more at a time), then it is suggested to change your transmission fluid at shorter intervals than specified in the manual. It is also necessary to follow a pre-drive conditioning process after hitching your CR-V to the motor home. This consists of moving the automatic transmission through several timed steps with the engine running to prepare it for flat-towing. Your owners manual will spell this out in detail.

You may or may not need a high/low adapter. The tow bar needs to be +/- 3" of level once installed to the base plates and connected to the RV. There is a link to article below explaining this and a link to high/low adapters too.
