If you want a clean look when you’re not towing, this setup keeps things simple. The Demco Classic Base Plate Kit uses fixed draw bars with no external crossbar, so only the small tabs are visible. Hidden reinforcement means less hardware showing, while the included tab covers snap in place to block dirt and debris from the brackets and cushion your shins if you brush past them.
This base plate bolts securely to the chassis with the included hardware—no welding required. The heavy-duty steel design spreads towing force evenly across the frame to minimize stress on the suspension and create a solid, dependable connection point for your tow bar. The brackets sit 24" apart center-to-center with a 16" bracket height, giving you an exact reference for how your tow setup will align.
Already have a tow bar setup from another brand? You can still use it with adapter kits designed for specific models. Demco adapters are available for Roadmaster Eagle (DM9523014), Reese Tow Champ and Valley (DM9523015), Roadmaster Falcon 5250 (DM9523023), and several other Roadmaster bars including Falcon 2, Blackhawk, Nighthawk, and Sterling (adapters DM9523036 or DM9523062). That means you can keep your current tow bar instead of replacing your whole system.
If you’re comfortable turning a wrench, installing this kit is a manageable weekend project. It’s a simple bolt-on job using standard tools, and all necessary hardware and instructions come in the box. Once mounted, an included electrical bracket gives you an easy spot to attach a round connector plug so your wiring stays organized and ready to go whenever it’s time to hit the road.

After a year, baseplate works great. Changed tow bar to a non-ball type. No baseplate connection issues.

After a year everything works as it should. I did loose one of the plastic covers because they dont fit good and snug. On a side note, my MH broke down on the expressway and I was able to use the toad to push my MH off the expressway to a safe place. Not sure if any else has done this but it truly was a life saver!

Hi Don. Per Demco, the # DM9518010 is a fit for the 1998 Jeep Cherokee, unless it has the front skid plate removed or if it's equipped with the up-country suspension or Tow hook pkg.
