If you like keeping your rig’s front end uncluttered when you’re not towing, this setup does it right. The hidden design keeps brackets from sticking out, and the removable arms twist out quickly for a clean, factory-style look. When the arms are off, plug in the included receiver covers to keep dirt and debris from getting inside and to give it a finished appearance. No more banging your shin on protruding hardware when you’re walking by.
The removable arms use a simple twist-lock system that makes hooking up quick and reliable. Just insert the arms into the receivers, rotate until they lock in place, and secure with a pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, twist, and slide them out—it’s that easy. The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars to form a strong connection that stays secure mile after mile.
This base plate bolts directly to the chassis with no welding required. Its sturdy steel design distributes towing forces evenly to help avoid stress on the suspension during long hauls. The powder-coated finish resists rust and corrosion, so it stays strong and looks good even after years on the road. The brackets sit 24" apart with a 17" bracket height—important details when setting up your towing gear.
Already own a tow bar? This base plate connects directly to Blue Ox models and can be adapted for others if needed. Roadmaster tow bars can hook up using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), and Demco tow bars use adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points also make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket for clean wiring up front.

Fit the Jeep perfectly. Not too difficult to install. I’ve pulled my jeep over 300 miles with no problems.
The product was great. Mistake on my part of install. The wire thats welded to the nut broke and had a difficult time holding the nut so it could be tightened. Couldn't get a wrench on it.

Worked like a charm, if you don't want to deal with cutting metal you can opt not to put the skid plate back on which is what I did in my case. If you do that the install is pretty simple, basic tools in my driveway got it done. If you want the skid plate back on get an angle grinder with metal cutting wheel and you can DIY that too. Safety first though, clamp anything you're going to cut and use protective gear.
Base Plate came with corner of box damaged. One plate was bent and wouldn't fit over frame. Hydraulic jack was needed to spread plates. Other than that everything else was fine and video was awesome.

Installed on a 2016 Jeep Wrangle JKU Rubicon Hard Rock edition. Install requires cutting of the Hard Rock (Rubicon X) factory steel skid plate and leaves quite a bit of the base plate sitting in front of and below the bumper/skid (not the best setup for heavy off-road use). While the install was relatively easy (other than cutting the skid plate) and I have had no problem pulling the Jeep behind our RV, I think with a little more thought and effort put into it that Blue Ox could have made something much better.
Second JKU that I’ve set up for flat towing and eTrailer always comes through. This Blue Ox baseplate fits my Rubicon Hard Rock perfect and couldn’t be happier with it. I will always have eTrailer on speed dial for my trailering needs. Thanks
The unit was sent to me damaged.
Perfect fit for 2017 rubicon hard rock edition. Minor skid plate trimming required but when done according to instructions, looks like a factory install. It will slightly reduce clearance on attack angle but the ease of flat towing was a trade off I was more than willing to accept.

Great bar to tow our Jeep Wrangler.
2017 jk unlimited with quadratec qrc full bumper/ winch. BX1134 is the one you need for this install .Install went well only had to make a couple notches in bumper. Photos attached.cables had to be attached to base plate rear rings no room between bumper and base plate to go around.If you don't want rattles just wire tie rings to baseplate once they are secure trough plate holes it'll thighten thinks up. Very well made product.

Super high quality baseplate for towing by Blue Ox. Instructions, videos, shipping (one day!) and overall experience was awesome. A bit pricey but their quality and the additional support by E Trailer cannot be beat! BTW (E Trailer) the baseplate fits three different Jeep configurations but did not call out the Recon package. After looking at other brands which showed there's to fit the 3 variations AND the Recon, I figured it would fit and it DID. You should definitely upgrade to include the Recon Edition.
