How to Add 7-Way & 4-Way to 2022 Ram ProMaster 3500 Without Factory Tow Package

Question:

I have a 2022 Promaster 3500 with no tow package. What wiring kit do I use with the 4 and 7 way connector w/mount? Can I use the C58DR without connecting to the 7 way? My goal is to have an external mounting connector for a 4 way.

We can definitely accomplish your goal, which is to have a wiring connector on your 2022 Ram ProMaster 3500 with both a 7-way and a 4-way. While you cannot use the # C58DR without connecting it, the 7-way adapter you'll use actually has a plug on the side that allows a 4-way connection, as you can see in the photo I added.

Since your '22 ProMaster does not have the tow package, the first thing you'll need to do is install a 4-way. And while the Curt T-Connector # C58DR will fit, I highly recommend going with a 4-way from Tekonsha, as they are not only the most reliable, but also has higher amperage ratings for better protection against shorts. The right fit for your 2022 ProMaster 3500 is the following:

- Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118618

The 4-way will give you the lighting functions for your trailer, and will need to be plugged into the 7-way adapter. For that, you'll need the following part:

- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7

The # ETBC7 comes with the circuit breakers, wire, and rest of the hardware needed to complete the install. This will give you a way to plug in a trailer with a 4-way or 7-way, and allow you to use a trailer brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR.
