Hi, I am considering the Curt Echo Wireless brake controller to put on my 2021 VW Atlas. My question is do I need the adapter that most folks suggest since the VWs come with the European connector? Thanks!

You are going to need a 7-Way connector to be able to use the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller item # c51180 on your 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. If your Atlas came with a 4-flat connector all you will need is the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7L. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Atlas with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
If your Atlas does not have a 4-flat vehicle connector you will need the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # 118754. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness which is located in your rear cargo area. It plugs in line with your existing wires and does not require any cutting or splicing.
