Question:
I have the Roadmaster Even Brake RM-9400 that I purchased in 2007. I have a 2007 Tiffin Phaeton and am towing a 2005 Honda CRV. Recently I noticed that after plugging the unit in it would build up pressure and shut off. When I push the test button it extends the piston out to move the brake pedal but then stops, lets out a small amount of compressed air apparently left in the cylinder and then doesnt re pressurize

Based on the symptoms you've been experiencing with your Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # RM-9400 it sounds to me like your exhaust valve has failed and needs to be replaced. This is fairly common over time and can be replaced with part # RM-450601-50.
I've included a video below where David will walk you through replacing the exhaust valve on your Even Brake.
